Amboise is a tiny medieval town located in the Loire Valley, France. We recently went on a family vacation to Amboise where we spent four nights with our three-year-old daughter. Our family holidays in Amboise and the Loire Valley became memorable since the place caters to children of all ages. As a result, we were able to have fun and so did our daughter. The place utilizes its geography and history to captivate kids in a surprising and fascinating way.
We choose Amboise as our ideal vacation destination since it was favorable to our daughter since we live in Paris. Amboise is just two hours away by car so she did not become too exhausted. Our little one was even able to sleep in her new baby car seat which made her comfortable throughout the journey. When we got there, we were starving so we went to grab some food. The best part about this place is that many restaurants cater for kids. Since Amboise is a very old-fashioned looking town that still has houses from the 17th and 18th century today, the restaurants have medieval themes that engage the kids a lot.
While on vacation, our found accommodation in a house that had a garden near the Amboise castle and the town center. We were able to stroll around and enjoy the beautiful sights with our three-year-old daughter. Her face lit up as we went up the castle and took a walk through the interiors, visited the scenic market near the river and crossed the bridge to the other side. The best part about going on family holidays in Amboise and the Loire Valley is that the place is centric to various attractions for children. There was no shortage of activities to do and places for our daughter to visit during our stay.
Take a look at some of the things to do with children when on family holidays in Amboise and the Loire Valley.

The grand aquarium has ten themed exhibition rooms that have inventive and exceptional
scenery. With its 60 tanks and 2 million liters of water, the aquarium is fascinating to any kid.
The journey to this place amazed our daughter since she was able to view the various types of
fish.
The tropical freshwater in the Aquarium has caimans, piranhas, electrical eels, trapdoor spiders and the exceedingly rare American Spatulas fish. Other marvels in the Aquarium are the touch pool where koi pick carps comes close to you and your child and the 15 meters long shark
tunnel that crosses under the Indo-Pacific. What more can a child ask for! It also teams up with the Mini-Chateaux Park to offer a subsidized entrance fee. Everyone loves a discount and we had to take advantage of this!
Pay The Mini-Chateau Park a Visit
You can also turn your family holidays in Amboise and the Loire Valley into a learning session. One way to do this is by visiting the miniature castles park the children get to know about the history of the various castles in the Loire Valley. That is, if only the kids are a bit older. When you go to the Mini-Chateau Park with a child as young as ours, they can skip the learning process and move on to other attractions. Our three-year-old daughter got to enjoy the small trains that go around the castle and the mechanic horses.
The Mini- Chateaux Park is possibly among the first stops you ought to consider when you are on your family holidays in Amboise and the Loire Valley. In addition to impressing our daughter, the miniature castles park gave us an opportunity to preview the Chateaux to let us choose the
ones to visit. We were able to view small models of the most celebrated chateaux in the Loire regions and admire the reproductions quality.

Our daughter, just like any other child loved visiting this zoological park. Ranked among the best ones worldwide, the zoo offers the greatest wildlife diversity in France. It also breeds endangered species to be transferred to other zoos and even has two giant pandas.

Another great thing to do when in Amboise is to go donkey riding. Yes, you discover the fun and freedom of riding at a donkey’s pace. Located between Cheverny and Chambord, A DOS D’ANE gives you an inventive way to explore Sologne and its chateaux. Our daughter loved the donkey ride as she took in the view from the crest of the saddle. We also got to channel our
inner child during this unique and candid adventure. The routes are predefined depending on your needs, equipment is also provided and the DOS D’ANE is open throughout the year. You can also add some twists to the donkey ride by bringing a picnic along. The donkey can carry the day’s provisions until you spot a suitably tranquil place to stop and eat before embarking on the laid-back return journey.
